Landscaping

This planting was carried out in winter 2006. The site has been modified extensively and soil has been imported for all lawns and gardens.Above the drive the first 4m has been planted with a heavy tropical flavour, Melia azdarach being the dominant tree. Above that the stripped hillside has been planted with native colonizing species, Phormium, Leptospermum and Coprosma.

The shaded garden on the southern side of the house has been planted with Asplenium bulbiferum and Vireya.

Main entrance under construction with a couple of photos showing finished planting off to the southern side.Against the patio wall we have planted Nikau, and Vireya

Another angle showing the southern garden.

Internal courtyard construction with feature ponds on each side of the main entrance walk. Finished planting of the courtyard.

More photos of the internal courtyard featuring Cycas revoluta, Macrozamia communis, Alcantarea, Bromiliads, Hedychium, Cannas,Hedescepy, Phormium 'Evening glow', Caryota, Camelia sasanqua,Dypsis baroni and Phormium 'Stud muffin'

The slope below the home is the first impression as you approach the house. Mass planting of Aloes, Yucca 'Garlands Gold',Coprosma, Pimelia, Carex testacea. Chamearops humilis, Livistona chinensis and Phoenix reclinata are the palms that dominate the planting. An old knarled Leptospernum was left as it died with its roots wrapped around a large boulder.

Rip Rap stream that runs through the entire garden, planted with Broms,Agave, Aloes and succulents.

Open planting of mainly palms on this hillside is slowly adapting to the wind.

Drive entrance with a lakeside ready to be planted and after planting.

Same scene, different angle.

And again with the planting starting to take. Much easier to establish without the wind exposure of the upper gardens.
